In the 19th century

In the 19th century, Limone sul Garda remained an isolated and peaceful community, accessible mainly by boat. The construction of the Gardesana road, which circles the lake, in the mid-20th century connected Limone to other towns around Lake Garda, facilitating access and the development of tourism.

In 1979, Limone sul Garda gained worldwide notoriety when a rare genetic mutation was discovered in some of its inhabitants. This mutation, known as Apolipoprotein A-1 Milano, is associated with extremely low levels of cardiovascular disease.
