A region of the utmost importance for Italian skiing, as it contains some of the most spectacular mountains in the Alpine ranges, the Cadore area, characterized by the presence of massive Dolomites, which create unique scenery in the world and which attract mountain lovers from virtually all of Europe.

An offer from the world of skiing that seems endless if we consider that Cortina d’Ampezzo, a ski resort that is a special touch, joins the summit of Asiago, the Nevegal Alps, the area of Monte Civetta, Alleghe and Selva di Cadore. Not forgetting that the Dolomites of Agordino with Arabba and Marmolada and the San Pellegrino and Falcade pass are renowned for the trail of lovers. If the province that offers the most is definitely Belluno, which has a true reference lighthouse in Cortina de Ampezzo, the provinces of Vicenza and Verona also have a good choice of facilities, in addition to the undoubted advantage of being behind the plain, with short travel times by car.

1) Where to ski in Veneto? DOLOMITES AND CORTINA D’AMPEZZO

The most beautiful spectacle is certainly offered by the Dolomites, a mountainous group in the eastern Alps declared by UNESCO as a natural heritage of humanity. Cortina d’Ampezzo, queen of the Dolomites, is one of the best equipped and renowned Italian ski resorts in Veneto, which each year attracts thousands of visitors from all over Belpaese and from all over the world. In addition to Cortina, which are notable locations such as Misurina, Il Passo Tre Croci, Allegre and Arabba, which alone are enough to crown Veneto as one of the most important European ski areas. Goal chosen by many VIPs for the white week and locality, where so many films were set, Cortina d’Ampezzo is a place to find out in the summer, but especially in the winter.

2) Where to ski in Veneto? AURONZO DI CADORE

Another fascinating location, at the foot of the Dolomites, perfect for holidays with the family or for a weekend with friends, is Auronzo di Cadore, center of the province of Belluno. In a valley, on the banks of the magnificent Lake of Santa Caterina, Auronzo di Cadore receives thousands of winter sports lovers every year. The most renowned place in the city of Auronzo di Caodre is Missurina, a beautiful and fascinating center of mountains in the Veneto, surrounded by Cristallino and the Three Summits of Lavaredo, with breathtaking panoramas.

Not to forget the small and spectacular Falcade mountain center. It is the position of that place to render it wonderful; it is located in the center between Marmolada, Cibetta and Pale di San Martino, the most spectacular dolomitic heights, Falcade presents its visitors with unique scenarios, more unique than rare.

4) Where to ski in Veneto? MARMOLADA

Between the province of Belluno and the Val di Fassa, the Marmolada massif stands out with all its grandeur. It offers lovely views of the mountains and trees on the adjacent ski slopes. During the summer it is the favorite place for alpine hikes. In this area, another notable ski resort stands out, Rocca Pietore, located at the foot of Marmolada, which at 3,343 meters is the highest dolomite in Veneto. It is a picturesque village immersed in uncontaminated nature and rich in fascinating places and spectacular beauty. Each year, its slopes and modern elevators attract a large number of tourists, never tired of going up and down with ski or snowboard.

5) Where to ski in Veneto? PLANALTO DI ASIAGO

In general, Veneto’s ski facilities are efficient and have numerous lifts. The Planalto di Asiago (Asiago Plateau) is in the province of Vicenza, and has the best ski resorts in central-western Veneto, such as Asiago, Gallio, Rotzo, famous among those who love alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and exciting snowboarding.

Veneto is, moreover, characterized by excellent cuisine, linked to tradition, simple and genuine, the typical products of the area, are chicory in all its varieties, asparagus and beans. To try, the pasta, the fasioi (beans), the buttered cod, the polenta and the osei (small birds), the canederli with mushrooms, the potato gnocchi with venison ragout and the potato casunziei are also delicious. For those with a sweet tooth, you can’t miss a great apple strudel, usually served with warm wild berries, followed by a great local grappa. Nothing is missing.

Thanks to the numerous links between this region and the rest of Italy and other countries, reaching Veneto is very simple: plane, train, private car or bus allow you to reach Veneto without any problems.

Veneto is well connected with the rest of Italy through a functional road network. It is crossed from west to east by the A4 Torino – Trieste highway. From the north it is possible to reach it via the A22 Brennero – Modena highway. From the south always with the A22 Brennero – Modena and, above all, the A13 Bologna – Padua.
