Campania wines

Let’s finish by talking about the wines of this region. Each province has its own references, and this territory, mainly mountainous with its mild climate, makes the region suitable for growing different types of vines, from which many wines are produced. The main wine-growing areas are concentrated in Alto Casertano, on the Sorrento peninsula, where the soils are limestone; in Cilento, in Sannio and Irpinia, which represents the richest wine-growing area in all of Campania.

Campania winemaking has a small ‘elite’, but absolute excellence represented by three DOCGs such as Taurasi, Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, which can be included among the great Italian wines. On the slopes of Vesuvius, it is possible to admire vineyards specialized in the production of DOC grapes, from which the famous Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio wine is made. Worthy of mention is the flattest area of the so-called Avellineana basin, of volcanic origin, famous for Fiano, one of the three Irpinia wines that have obtained the prestigious DOCG label, recommended by sommeliers to accompany dishes based on seafood, soups and shellfish. Don’t you want to try at least one of these delicacies? So, all that’s left is for you to organize your vacation in Campania.
