If you are in Florence for a few days, you should absolutely take the opportunity to make a round trip to Pisa. This will probably be the easiest way to do it, just because you only have 4 hours available and you can already do a super tour in Pisa. This is one of the tours that I consider unmissable! So let’s go to our Special Post of the day: How to go to Pisa from Florence? Here at Your Travel to Italy with Ana Patricia you make the trip of your dreams!!! ALSO: see our “Accommodation in Italy – Tips for your holidays!”

With its leaning tower is one of the most photographed tourist places in Italy, Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles – UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987) has real treasures! When purchasing tickets, you will have to decide which attractions you want to visit. And be sure to climb the Tower’s 300 steps! It is a truly unique experience! Come on?! “Ecco”, here are the 4 (four) likely options for going to Pisa from Florence. Read this post to organize your day in Pisa. What to do in one day in Pisa?

The first option to go to Pisa is for sure by train. To take the train, just arrive at Santa Maria Novella Railway Station. I advise you to buy tickets in advance, so that everything is more planned and, consequently, it optimizes your time. Buy tickets in advance and save 🙂 The trip lasts an average of 1 hour. Taking the train (any type of train) get off at Pisa Central Station which is located about 2 kilometers from Piazza dei Miracoli, where you will find the Tower of Pisa.

Trenitalia is the main Italian company dedicated to the management of rail transport. Find out here “What is the difference between trains in Italy?“. Buy your ticket online in advance and save a lot! To learn more, read our post “How to buy a train ticket in Italy?“.

Another option is the Pisa San Rossore Station (if you take the regional train): I recommend this option because you will practically descend less than 10 minutes on foot from the Tower of Pisa !! With the regional train the trip can take about 30 minutes more, but you will avoid wasting time when you arrive in Pisa, so it can be a good option!

This option is PERFECT for those who want to be calm and without having to think about organizing their trips. It is worth remembering the following: many of these tours are usually done in large groups and with guides in Spanish or English. Group tours are a great alternative for those who do not want to spend so much and for those who are not used to traveling alone and therefore prefer to be with other people, where you will have a manager who will organize all the day’s tours! That way you don’t have to worry about anything! Just being rested and willing to visit magnificent places!

If you prefer to do things with more peace of mind and freedom of time you can choose to rent a car to take this tour, but in my opinion it is worthwhile only if you are going to visit Pisa and Lucca, if you are going to visit only Pisa, I think it is easier to do it by train! If you are renting a car be sure to read our posts in the section Driving in Italy on the blog Your Travel to Italy. In addition to car itinerary tips, we have everything about signage, tolls, roads and many more tips.

Among the first options, precisely because it does not have fixed times for sure the rental car is the ideal choice. It is always complicated to drive on roads that we do not know – it depends on person to person and the type of trip you are used to. This option is ideal if you like to drive! – IF YOU’RE DRIVING: DO NOT DRINK!

In addition, it is important to know that in tourist cities there are places (old town) where PARKING is NOT ALLOWED, and can only be used by residents! So it is important not to go to these places so as not to take unnecessary fines. In Italy it is common for them to tow the car or put that hubcap that blocks the vehicle’s exit! Be careful!

How to understand what these places are? See this post that talks about it, but in any case another tip for those who are unsure about it, is to park a little outside from the center and take a walk to reach the area, spending a little more, by taxi or other public transport.

How about if I give you a rental car option? Are you ready for it? If you are renting a car be sure to read our posts in the section Driving in Italy on the blog Your Travel to Italy. In addition to car itinerary tips, we have everything about signage, tolls, roads and many more tips.

We have a partner that can help you: Rent Cars! Have you ever thought about renting a car in Italy, without leaving your home? Click on the banner below to learn more! Search, compare and choose!

The last option is a private tour. The advantage of the private tour is the total freedom to decide your own time, not having to wait to leave, wasting unnecessary time and using it to get to know other places. In addition, the tour departs comfortably from your own hotel, which is important when you have little time available to visit a few places. In addition, of course, the arrival will not be at the train or bus station, but directly at the tourist spot you want to visit. And if you book in advance, you will often be able to have the driver in your own language, so you can easily ask for clarification about the trip.

This type of tour is ideal for VIPs and for small groups of friends or for the elderly. This type of service guarantees absolute comfort for those who travel. Basically, you should just enjoy the tour without the stress of attending train, subway, bus schedules, or worrying about where the main places to be seen are!
