Introduction

The Amalfi Coast is a unique beauty and it would be impossible to list all the reasons to visit it! With the blue sea, colorful buildings, spectacular beaches and much more, the Amalfi Coast has a charm that excites even the most demanding tourists. Excursion from Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast!

About the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline located in Campania, south of the Italian peninsula. It covers about 40 km of coastline, starting from Vietri sul Mare and reaching Positano (some say it is the opposite, but the order of the factors, does not change the product! Hahahaha). Oh, Amalfi Coast and the Cinque Terre are two different coasts, but many are confusing. Well, before you read the five reasons to visit the Amalfi Coast as soon as possible, there are a few things you need to know!

About Sorrento

Sorrento, despite being chosen by many as the base city, IS NOT PART OF THE AMALFI COAST! It iithout a doubt, an extremely well connected destination with the neighboring cities, there is the train arriving in Naples and the buses that leave for Positano and Amalfi, besides having much more accommodatios, wn option, but many think that the city belongs to the Amalfi Coast. Legend! Sorrento is the last coastal city on the Sorrento peninsula and this may seem like a pure pun, but Sorrento is also worth a visit, as it will present you with another view of that Italian coast. They are very different beauties.

Transport in the Amalfi Coast

It is also important to know that there are no trains in the Amalfi Coast! To reach Amalfi, or any other city along the coast, there are three options: bus, car or boat. Read our Post How to visit the Amalfi Coast using public transport?

Boat Option

Despite being a bit expensive, the boat is an option that must be considered, because the landscapes they offer us are beautiful, but do not risk renting a boat to go alone: the entrance by the sea is quite “annoying” and it is much more reliable to go with someone who “already knows the way well”.

Bus Option

SITA buses are excellent for those, for example, who are not in a hurry. One of the negative points of using the bus, especially in high season, is the crowd: they are PACKED, as the roads there are well winding, the heat and the movement can make you feel sick, so be sure to take a little medicine before take the bus if your stomach is delicate. The view from the bus trip is also beautiful!

Car Option

The car option, to be very honest, I advise against it! Why? Because the roads that lead to the cities are very narrow in some places, they are not easy, and they are even a little dangerous. Another negative point of going there by car: place to park! It is a saga to find a place to park and, when you do, it is usually far from the beach. Visit our section Driving in Italy!

Important to Know

  • Good to know too: the Amalfi Coast is an expensive place! These are not absurd values, after all, their season lasts only three months and they need to survive the rest of the year, but compared to other Italian places, you will feel the difference.
  • Another important point: the beaches are small! So, schedule to arrive early! There is no point in wanting to sleep late and go to the beach at lunchtime: it will be crowded!
  • Get ready to walk A LOT! Which is not bad, but with the heat, it can be a little tiring: wear light clothes, drink plenty of water and make strategic stops to get some rest, O.K.?

Well, after all, it is not difficult to find five reasons for you to visit the Amalfi Coast as soon as possible. Shall we find them out?
