Our Introduction

Rimini is one of the most democratic cities in terms of attractions, pockets, and tastes! It appeals to all age groups as it presents options for all of them. Situated in northern Italy, in the Emilia-Romagna region, Rimini is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in northern Italy. Despite having lost almost all of its historical collection during the Second World War, the city has risen again and, today, manages to present a lot of history and culture.

A little history of Rimini

Rimini’s history has its roots in ancient times and, due to its privileged geographical and historically strategic position, it also offers incredible regional cuisine. It was founded by the Romans after a victory over the Gauls, and the ancient Ariminum became an increasingly important center: the Romans, not surprisingly, built two main arteries in the  city, the Via Flaminia, which still connects it to Rome, and the Via Emilia, which connects the city with Piacenza. Here, different peoples and domains intersected and followed each other: from the Byzantines to the Lombards, from the Malatesta to the Venetians. People who left a surprising and still admirable trace in the architecture and the main attractions of the city.

1) Are we going to visit Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region? GET TO KNOW THE HISTORIC CENTER

The historic centre of Rimini is a concentrate of beauty, art, history and liveliness! As you walk through the squares and alleys, you will find the majestic Arch of Augustus, the oldest preserved Roman arch in the world, and the famous Casa del Chirurgo, an important archaeological excavation that stands  in Piazza Ferrari, a real Roman Domus in fact, which belonged to a doctor, with a room entirely used as a clinic where it is possible to observe medical instruments,  typical furniture and also splendid mosaics.

Piazza Tre Martiri, the Palace and the Old Fish Market

Piazza Tre Martiri, which was the ancient Roman forum, and Piazza Cavour, the most important of medieval times, offer majestic beauty and historic palaces, such as  the Palazzo dell’Arengo, the Podestà and the Palazzo Comunale. But the real symbol of the square is the Fontana della Pigna in the center, which has always been a meeting place for locals. While you’re in the center, visit the old fish market! Here you will be able to understand the true essence of the city. This is the ideal place to chat with friends, have a good beer or a glass of wine, in one of the thousands of venues present: wineries, pubs and restaurants will offer the best of Emilia Romagna on the table. All without rushing! Make time for it! Observe the movement of the locals, the dynamics of the city… It’s a very tasty program!

You will be enchanted by the hypnotic geometries of the alleys and the beautiful “gallery” of arcades, born from the ingenuity of the architect Buonamici, under which the famous stone stalls, which long ago were used for the sale of fresh fish, today house many young people at any time of the day and night, especially in summer!

2) Are we going to visit Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region? GET TO KNOW THE PONTE DI TIBERIO

Also not to be missed  is the Ponte di Tiberio, which is over 2000 years old and was built by Romans; the bridge connects the city center to the Borgo San Giuliano neighborhood. Taking advantage of the fact that ‘we are there’, cross the bridge to reach the Borgo San Giuliano neighborhood. It is characterized by its arts on the walls and, in ancient times, it was a fishing village. Today it is where important cultural events take place.

3) Are we going to visit Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region? GET TO KNOW THE CITY’S PIER AND THE MALESTIAN TEMPIO

Be sure to pay a visit to the city pier known as Nuova Darsena. This is where the city’s nightlife comes to life: with music, dancing and entertainment, fun here is guaranteed! You too can’t miss the Tempio Malestianowhich is a beautiful Gothic-style cathedral. The façade is entirely made of marble and was erected in the thirteenth century. Italy in Miniature! It is, in fact, a theme park and illustrates, in miniature, the main Italian cities as well as other European cities. The details are stunning! For more information, click here!

Golden Tip

  • If you have a car, take the opportunity and go to San Marino. The country within the country is stunningly beautiful! It’s worth knowing!

4) Are we going to visit Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region? DISCOVER THE BEACHES OF RIMINI

The Riviera of Rimini!! As we said, Rimini has some of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. Among some of the most beautiful beaches in Rimini is Rivabella; you can define this beautiful beach as ‘a piece’ of California in Italy. The waterfront is full of attractions, bars, restaurants (there’s even a Ferris wheel!) and is super well located. Another impressive beach is Viserbella beach  (where the attraction Italy in Miniature is located). It is the most touristy beach and where most shops, markets, hotels and many other structures for tourists are concentrated. The night there is not so busy, so it is ideal for those who want rest and peace.

Pedrera Tower

If you want even more tranquility, choose the Pedrera Tower. It’s super quiet and to get to the beach you just literally have to cross the street. Excellent option for those with children, in addition to being calm and very safe. Oh, important to know: the beaches are almost waveless because of the barrier of rocks that break the waves; There are lifeguards every 150 meters and the total waterfront is 15 km long. Whichever beach you choose: it will be worth it!
