With a centuries-old history, the Antinori winery belongs to the homonymous family that began producing wines at the end of the XIV century. With 26 generations in charge of production, in 2012 an innovative winery was inaugurated and after seven years of work a new masterpiece emerged: a winery designed by the architect Marco Casamonti, which blends in with the typical Tuscan landscape and appears almost invisible from the side. out.

The winery has an impressive view: it overlooks the countryside through a terrace surrounded by vineyards that offer the typical variety of Chianti Classico, Sangiovese. There are four tours available and all are done in a group; visits last between one and two hours, and the guides speak Italian or English – if you need a translator, you must request it before the visit, at the time of booking, remembering that there may be no availability. 1 – Visita Tinaia:

This tour takes you through the different parts of the winery, such as the beautiful helical staircase, the vine on the cellar roof, the wine production areas and the museum space. In the glass room it is possible to taste three wines produced there: Vigna sul Tetto Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Cont’Ugo Bolgheri DOC and Bramasole Cortona DOC Syrah.

2 – Visita Bottaia:

The film dedicated by Cinzia Th. Torrini to the family that owns the winery, “Gli Antinori, vinattieri dal 1385”, presents a story that illustrates the history of the Marchesi Antinori and their role in the wine market in past centuries. The route passes inside and outside the winery and presents details from the stages of the production process, through the architectural aspects, contemporary works of art that decorate the route, to the final product.

It is possible to visit the production floor, the cellar, and the area dedicated to large barrels. It offers tasting of four wines that takes place in the suggestive suspended room or in the cozy Bottaia room; the labels included are Pietrabianca Castel del Monte DOC, Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva and Maggiarino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. Remembering that the selection of wines can be changed according to seasonality and availability. This visit costs 70 euros per person, children and teenagers up to 17 years old pay 13 euros, and children up to 6 years old are free.

The visit ends at the winery’s incredible restaurant, Rinuccio 1180, overlooking the hills of Chianti Classico. There you will taste Pietrabianca Castel del Monte DOC, Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana DOC and Muffato della Sala Umbria IGT along with traditional Tuscan dishes revisited with a modern and innovative vision.
