Dating back to the tenth century, it boasts notable features such as a distinctive bell tower, a bronze door from 1087 donated by a wealthy merchant, and intricate twelfth-century marble decorations depicting allegorical scenes, including the coronation ceremony of the Doges.

It was a kind of tribute from those who wanted to thank H.M. Magdalene for freeing them from a garrison of Saracen soldiers. The Collegiata is located on a promontory overlooking the extraordinary Gulf of Salerno village, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Amalfi Coast. In its square, the light will delight you, reflecting on the white walls and seeming to blend in with the color of the sea.

Another of the most beautiful places on the Amalfi Coast, not only Atrani, is the Church of Santa Maria del Bando. Located on the stone wall below the Torre dello Ziro, the old chapel can be reached through a staircase with hundreds of steep steps that, after effort, will offer a breathtaking view. Legend has it that the church takes its name from the ancient custom of announcing the notices (laws and sentences) from the top of its terrace. Next to the church is the so-called Cave of the Saints, where a hermitage stood in medieval times.
