Located behind the charming district of Trastevere and thanks to its dominant strategic position, here you have one of the most impressive views in the city! From above, it is not difficult to recognize and locate some of the most beautiful monuments in Rome, such as the dome of San Pietro, the Pantheon , the Vittoriano, and even the Albanian Hills back there!

If you come here around noon, you will be able to watch the famous cannon shot fired every day, at the same time, since 1846. It was a tradition brought by Pope Pius IX (read here how to see the Pope in Rome?) who, to mark the ‘middle of the day’, made a point of making the shot synchronize with all the bells of the Roman churches! Early in the day, there are lines, but they are smaller! In addition, get ready: there are 551 steps, but the view from the top makes you forget the sacrifice in a matter of seconds! You can also ‘save’ shoe soles and take ‘half way’ by elevator, so that there are only 320 steps left to the highest point in the entire basilica! 3) The most beautiful panoramic views of Rome: MONUMENT TO VITTORIO EMANUELE II

Monument that, for a moment, needs no introduction! The monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, inaugurated in 1911, is also known as Monumento Vittoriano or Altare della Patria (“Altar of Homeland”), it is magnificent and immense: it is 135 meters wide by 70 meters high; it features majestic Corinthian columns and infinite staircases, all built in white marble! From here, you have a 360-degree view of the city and, since 2007, there are two panoramic elevators to reach the top. From there, you have a spectacular view from Via del Corso to Piazza Popolo ‘passing’ through the Colosseum. Access to the monument is free; however, to use the elevators, you pay 7 euros.There you can also find the Museo del Risorgimento ( Museum of the Risorgimento ) and admission to this attraction costs 5 euros. 4) The most beautiful panoramic views of Rome: PANORAMIC TERRACE OF GIARDINO DEGLI ARANCI (GARDEN OF ORANGES)

Go to the terrace of Parque Savello (Savello Park) in Aventino, the Giardino Degli Aranci. With an exuberant nature, which serves as a frame for an incredible view, the Garden is magnanimously beautiful! From there you will have a view of the views of the Gianicolo, the Tiber Island and the Ghetto, which features a beautiful synagogue! Where is it? The entrance is at Piazza S. Pietro d’Illiria, on Via di S. Sabina, Rocca Savella.

The terrace, at the top of Mount Mario, is the highest point in Rome (139 meters high) and, for obvious reasons, the view from here is breathtaking! Do you know why Rome is called the “Eternal City”? This definition is often attributed, erroneously, to Emperor Hadrian. The credits came to him because of a passage that, according to some people, would be a phrase taken from one of his speeches: “Another Rome will come, and I cannot imagine her face; but I will have helped to form it. Rome will live, Rome will only perish with the last city of men. ” , HOWEVER… Hadrian NEVER even wrote or uttered those words: the phrase came from a Marguerite Yourcenar novel, Memoria di Adriano, published in the last century.
