Our Introduction
Visiting Tuscany? Yes Yes Yes!!!!! Popular around the world for its art, history and natural landscapes, Tuscany is also one of the Italian regions that has contributed most to the formation of a unified Italian identity. From the Middle Ages, language, art, literature and political and economic institutions flourished in this region, which six centuries later became a fundamental part of Italy’s artistic and cultural heritage. The regional capital is Florence, which for some years was the capital of Italy and is considered a true crossroads of the Italian Renaissance. Find out here where to ski in Tuscany!

Cities like Florence, Siena and Pisa, along with smaller ones like Lucca, Cortona and Arezzo preserve some of Italy’s most important artistic treasures. While medieval towns such as San Gimignano, with its towers, or Pienza, a jewel of the Renaissance, place us in the heart of the history and typical landscape of Tuscany. All this surrounded by typical dishes and unique wines, perfected over the years, in a fertile territory.

Florence
The regional capital is Florence, which for a few years was the capital of Italy and is considered a true crossroads of the Italian Renaissance. A city that belonged to, inspired and enchanted great names, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Dante Alighieri, who was born in the city and became the “father” of the Italian language.
The Duomo di Firenze, Ponte Vecchio, the spectacular sculpture of David, made by Michelangelo, and so many incredible works such as Palazzo Pitti, Galleria degli Ufizzi are the legacy of these incredible years that involved the Renaissance period and, we cannot forget to mention, the importance of the Medici Family, who with their enormous wealth and power transformed and built wonderful works in Florence, which fill our eyes with so much beauty. Arezzo
Located about 62km from Florence, the city that often goes unnoticed due to the fame that falls on Pisa, Siena and Florence itself, leaves nothing to be desired in terms of historic buildings, excellent cuisine, art and a very pleasant climate. Also because it is less in the spotlight of tourism, Arezzo is a little calmer in terms of overcrowding, making a walk around the city really very pleasant.
What is there to visit in the city? Among the main tourist attractions we can mention the Duomo, Capella della Madonna del Conforto, Fortezza Medicea and the Palazzo Comunale. So, remember to include this city in your Tuscany itinerary. Read also: What to do in Arezzo in one day?

Siena
Rich in art, history and culture, Siena is another of the charming Tuscan cities. Surrounded to the north by Chianti and to the south by the Valle dell’Arbia, which leads to the beautiful city of Montalcino, we can already get a small idea of how much beauty awaits you.
Olive trees and vineyards surround Siena, offering us beautiful landscapes. In the city, in addition to its alleys and cozy streets that invite us to take beautiful walks, you will also find works of art such as the “Maestà” by Duccio di Buoninsegna in the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo di Siena. And let’s not forget the good food and drink, Tuscan wines, pecorino cheese, salami and regional sweets will make you delight at mealtime. Read also: What to visit in one day in Siena?

2) Visiting Tuscany? ENJOY WORLD FAMOUS WINES!
How can we talk about Tuscany and not talk about wine, because the two subjects are closely linked to each other! The Chianti region is in Tuscany and, contrary to what many people think, is not a city, but rather a mountainous area located between the cities of Florence, Siena and Arezzo.
I would like to highlight the cities of Montalcino, Montepulciano and San Gimignano, which are known for producing the wines Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. It is no wonder that the region is affectionately known as the Land of Wines. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the whole, natural beauty, vineyards and spectacular wines, include Chianti in your itinerary. Read also: The five best wineries in Chianti!
3) Visiting Tuscany? VALUE OF ART, CULTURE AND HISTORY!
Tuscany’s main attractions include: its artistic and cultural heritage linked to the medieval and Renaissance periods, its numerous historical events, the wonderful aesthetic value of its historical landscape, the variety of its natural environment, its wine and food scene. In short, the tourist offer is characterized by its multiplicity of forms. This variety of options allows any tourist to find the most suitable segment. All of this makes this region one of the most visited areas in the world.
Many cities in Italy, in addition to being like open-air museums, make a point of valuing everything they can, their museums, their artists, be they painters, musicians or craftsmen, their cuisine, and Tuscany is extremely rich in all of these aspects. It is very easy to come across musicians playing their instruments in the middle of the street, or even to watch a painter with his canvas and paints painting a beautiful landscape!
In general, these are cities where the pleasure is to walk around, observing and appreciating every detail. Look up, look down, to the sides, because suddenly you find something that reminds you of an episode from a not so distant past, like signs of the Second World War, or even characteristics of long centuries, like the palaces of the region’s powerful families!
