Introduction

In our penultimate chapter (for now!) of our series, “How much does it cost to travel?”, today we will find out how much to spend in one of the cities most sought after by tourists, Venice! Also one of the’most expensive’ to visit… Are you ready? So let’s understand how much we are going to spend on a trip to Venice. Find out here whether or not it is worthwhile to hire a consultancy specialized in travel to Italy!

1) How much will I spend on a trip to Venice? WITH ACCOMMODATION

Venice can be seen in 3 days with calm and tranquility (considering a round trip) or in 2 days. It is even possible to visit islands close to the city, such as Murano, Butano, and Torcello, in one day, that is: it is not a city that requires a lot of time from tourists. The daily rates in Venice are not the cheapest, so get organized VERY well, OK ?! See our section on Accommodation in Italy, you will find lots of information and tips on accommodation! Here, the daily rates will cost between EUR 120.00 and EUR 400.00! Considering a 2-day trip with the average between the quoted values, something around EUR 140.00: for 2 days EUR 280.00 (for two people).

2) How much will I spend on a trip to Venice? WITH TRANSPORT

Definitely, the best way to get to know Venice is on foot! Of course, a Vaporetto tour on the Grand Canal is indispensable. In fact, if you don’t want to walk a lot, the best means of transport is the vaporetto or the traghetto. The vaporetto costs, on average, EUR 7.50 and is valid for one hour, but it is possible to get off at various points and catch the vaporetto as many times as you want in that period.

The Traghetto

A worthwhile option is also the traghetto, which costs a little less, EUR 4.00. If you only use it to cross the channel, from side to side, you will pay EUR 0.50. The main disadvantage of the traghetto is that they don’t work all day and there are fewer timetables available. In our section on Transport in Italy, you will find lots of information and tips on transport!

Gondola Ride

If you want to take a Gondola ride you will need to negotiate it a LOT! Values range from EUR 80 to EUR 130 !!! And it will depend on the gondolier you choose. I reinforce: negotiate it! If you prefer, buy the Venezia Unica City Pass which includes transportation and entrance to main monuments, as well as discounts on public restrooms, for example.

Vaporetto

We will then simulate the tour with the Vaporetto Card for 2 days, which costs EUR 30.00 for 2 days (including a Gondola ride for a minimum amount of EUR 80.00). In other words, for 2 people: 60 euros plus 80 euros; 140.00 euros for two people.

3) How much will I spend on a trip to Venice? WITH EATING

Venice is very democratic when it comes to food and prices do not vary so much in restaurants, not to mention luxurious ones, of course! But, in general, a lunch / dinner menu with antipasto, main course, dessert and ¼ of wine costs around EUR 20. Again: of course, it will depend on the restaurant chosen and the location, among other factors, but still, it is not an expensive service. Based on a very nice value for a lunch / dinner, you will spend about EUR 40 / day, and our final bill with food is around EUR 80.00 for 2 days or EUR 160 for 2 people. Get to know our section on Food in Italy, you will find lots of information and tips on food and you will learn not to fall into culinary traps!

4) How much will I spend on a trip to Venice? WITH THE CITY MONUMENTS
