Introduction

Venice is a magical city par excellence! Famous all over the world for its canals and splendid St Mark Square, Venice is the type of city that makes us fall in love at the same moment we step into its territory. In the Veneto region, Venice is an excellent city for those who want to get to know art, culture, architecture and history in one trip, but because it is a small city, it doesn’t require so much time to visit it, although it invites its visitor to look it with affection, calm and time.

Super Tips

  • If you are going to Venice and will choose Venice as your base city, avoid heavy and very large suitcases! It can become a nightmare to walk across the bridges – especially the narrowest ones – with this type of suitcase! Whenever you think about going to Venice, remember to travel “light”, O.K? Base City

If you decide to choose Venice as your base city and would like to visit other Italian locations, know that it is possible and very simple! Today we bring you some options for round trip, departing from Venice. Of course, there are countless options and we could make a huge list with all of them, however, we will (try) to keep the list as short as possible, including cities that, in fact, are unmissable for anyone in Venice. Shall we see our options? Read also where to stay in Venice?

Good to know

  • Whenever you think about taking a round trip, consider the following: the ideal round trip is one that, considering the round-trip times – combined – are less than a maximum of 4 hours (two to go and two to return). Trips with travel time greater than 4 hours end up not being worthwhile, because in addition to counting the travel time, you may have little time in the destination city and need to do everything in a hurry, which I do not advise.
  • The trains that operate the mentioned sections are from Trenitalia and Ítalo and you can get tickets online and even get good discounts.

A little about St. Anthony’s Basilica

Domes of Byzantine style and precious works of art characterize the basilica; here you can also see the tomb of St Anthony. In the historic center of the city, there are streets with arcades and elegant cafés frequented by students at the University of Padua, founded in 1222.
