Nowadays, the Ski Area has 57 ski lifts and covers 150 km of slopes with a capacity for more than 31,000 people per hour. Its structure offers 50,000 square meters of snow park, but just a few steps away from the city, you will find great options for natural walks going to lakes, valleys, streams and meadows. The 50,000 hectares of the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, together with the 450 km of mountain trails, offer incredible suggestions for those traveling on foot or by bicycle through the peaceful pine forests. 1) What to do in Madonna di Campiglio, in the Dolomites? VISIT THE FIVE LAKES

You can take the tour of the Five Lakes. This is one of the most pleasant tours for those who want total immersion in nature. You can take the cable car in the center and pass by Lake Ritort. The climb takes a few minutes and takes us to 2069 meters in height and the path that leads to Lake Ritort is completely flat, then you can continue to the lakes Labin, Serodoli and Gelato. Another interesting tour is to visit the waterfalls of the Val di Genova. It is one of the most beautiful tours in the region. You can start your tour from the Nardis waterfall and then continue along the valley, admiring as many waterfalls and some streams along the way. In high season you can travel with the bus inside the park itself. You can also go to the Tuckett refuge that ends at the Vallesinella waterfalls. To take a shortcut, you can leave the city center by bus and visit the Mezzo and Alte waterfalls.

3) What to do in Madonna di Campiglio, in the Dolomites? VISIT MOUNT SPINALE

For those who like to walk, they will love to know that Princess Sissi stayed twice in Madonna di Campiglio, in 1889 and in 1894, and on that last occasion she joined her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph for long walks. Accompanied by the mountain guide in Vallesinella, on the Grostè, towards Mount Spinale, the walk fills us with tranquility and peace: the path is beautiful! There are currently two itineraries that offer the best trails and can be done from the Spinale cable car.

If you have breath, from Pinzolo, the Doss del Sabion can be reached by cable car followed by a beautiful walk! Here you will find one of the most difficult paths, but one that offers the best views imaginable! Climb up to the rocky heart of the Brenta Dolomites to reach the XII Apostoli refuge, 2,500 meters high. The walk lasts almost four hours, but it is worth every sore muscle!

Hofer Hall

Also in the center, there is the beautiful Hofer Hall, inside the Hotel Des Alpes, named after the artist Gottfried Hofer, a Bolzano painter who decorated the internal walls of the large reception room between 1896 and 1897. The decorations made by Hofer include a fantastic canvas depicting the Madonna that appeared to some pastors on Mount Spinale; in addition to the portraits of Francesco Giuseppe and Sissi, there are also numerous floral, naturalistic and mythological symbols.

Ice Skating and other Activities

In the center of Madonna di Campiglio, during high season, you can ice skate in the city center. If you prefer, you can go to Pinzolo, where there is the ice stadium, with an Olympic 30 × 60-skating rink. There you can also skate and practice hockey, broomball and curling.   • From Milan, on the A1 highway until the Brescia Est exit, continue on the SS45 heading towards Lake Idro following the signs to Madonna di Campiglio (226 km).
