1) How to go to Capri from Rome? WITH THE TRAIN

The best option in my opinion, because you won’t have to stress about traffic, trying to figure out where to go, how to go and, obviously, if you take the high speed train you will get to Naples much faster. The good news is that a train departs to Naples almost hourly. The duration of the trip can vary from 1h10 to 2h20, according to the type of train you have chosen. Just go to Rome Termini Station and buy the ticket the day before or make a reservation in advance through the Trenitalia website.

Arriving in Naples, how do I get to the port?

You can go to the port either with a public bus or a taxi. I advise against the bus, mainly, because you will have to understand where the bus is, and you will end up wasting time, it will take much longer to get to the port (wasting precious time) and the buses are often very crowded. It’s complicated here! So I advise you to take the taxi, they have a point at the exit of the station. In about 10-15 minutes, peacefully and without any discomfort you will reach the port where you can embark for the Island. !! Wonderful, isn’t it?

There are two different Ports, but they are close to each other:

Mole Beverello: you will take the aliscafi, that is, the speedboats that make the route with an average of 50 minutes;
Calata Porta di massa: you will be able to take the ferry boat which is slower, more economical, but the journey will take an average of 90 minutes, so I do not advise it, since you have little time and should optimize this time as much as possible, right?

It is always important before buying train tickets, to control the “aliscafo” schedules and vice versa, so that everything coincides, and that you do not waste a lot of time waiting in different places, it makes a difference for the roundtrip don’t be tiring, stressful and mainly for you can make the most of all the time available!

Another detail worth mentioning: get ready because, generally, the regional railway trains are very bad and sometimes very dirty, so don’t create high expectations! If you use the train, always choose the high speed train to avoid this type of problem.
One more thing: the time that is lost with all these trips, could be used to get more out of the city visited!

3) How to go to Capri from Rome? WITH A RENTED CAR

If you prefer to do things with more tranquility and freedom of time, you can choose to rent a car to take this tour. But read carefully all our tips and information for renting a car! How to get?

You will have to take the car and leave for the port of Naples, getting there, you will have to leave the car parked in one of the several parking lots. So before deciding for this solution, remember to calculate at least € 20.00 for parking. Consider an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes from Rome to the port, so between round trips at least 5 hours, it will obviously depend on traffic. I advise you to leave very early and return after 7:00 pm. Escape the peak hours in Rome (7:00 am – 9:00 am and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm).

Among the first options, precisely because it does not have fixed times for sure the rental car is the ideal choice. It is always complicated to drive on roads that we do not know – it depends on person to person and the type of trip you are used to.
