How to arrive in Italy?

How to go to Italy? Traveling to Italy? How to enter Italy? So many doubts! Italy is well connected by air with the rest of the world, but you can also reach Italy using the train lines coming from the rest of Europe, the highways and even the sea. Let’s read our post of the day? How to arrive in Italy? Here at Your Travel to Italy with Ana Patricia you make the trip of your dreams!!! ALSO: see our “Accommodation in Italy – Tips for your holidays!”

1) How to arrive in Italy? BY PLANE

Traveling by plane to Italy is easy, thanks to a wide range of flights present throughout the territory. There are several connections between cities, as well as air services from Rome and Milan to all Italian airports. There are almost forty medium and small airports in the country in all Italian regions (except Molise and Basilicata).

The main points of arrival, intercontinental and international, from Italy are: Leonardo da Vinci Airport – Rome Fiumicino and Malpensa Airport – Milan, but almost all the numerous Italian airports have international connections (especially with Europe). The offer of flights either by the traditional companies or by the low cost lines is wide and covers a vast number of destinations. Italy is connected by air with most European nations and all continents.

2) How to arrive in Italy? BY TRAIN

The fascination of train travel never ends, especially if the goal is Italy. The existing services for traveling, day or night, between Italy and the rest of European countries, are characterized by high quality, short travel times and excellent comfort. It is prudent (and sometimes required) to reserve seats.

Italy has an extensive rail network that links almost the entire national territory with a range of regional, Intercity and high-speed trains. Practically 95% of the operating lines are managed by Trenitalia, which guarantees more than 7.000 trains a day (and almost half of them run during rush hour).

Train Types in Italy

There are several types of trains: local, direct (DIR), regional (R) and intercity (IR) that stop at all intermediate stations. The fastest and long-distance ones are Intercity (IC) and Eurostar (ES), which stop only in larger cities. Then there are the high-speed Eurostar Italia trains, the famous “freccia rossa”, which can reach a speed of 300 km per hour.

Did you know that Trenitalia is the main Italian company dedicated to the management of rail transport? Find out here What is the difference between trains in Italy?“. 3) How to arrive in Italy? BY CAR

There are two main highways connecting Northern and Southern Italy: Autostrada del Sole (A1 road, which passes through Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples) and Adriatica (A14 road, which connects Bologna, Ancona, Pescara, Bari and Taranto).

On highways it is necessary to pay tolls. It is possible to make payment in cash or using credit card. The European motorway network and the presence of several intersections simplify access to Italy by car or motorcycle. You can reach the Peninsula from Austria, France, Switzerland and Slovenia.

Main Crossings

The main entrance crossings open every year are: the Monte Bianco tunnel that from Chamonix connects France to the A5 motorway to Torino and Milan, the Gran San Bernardo tunnel that connects Switzerland – always with the A5 motorway, the Passo del Brennero, through Austria, which joins the A22 motorway towards Bologna. Alpine tunnels are usually closed in winter, and sometimes, also in autumn and spring, because of snow.
