1) Where to stay in Sorrento? MARINA GRANDE AND MARINA PICCOLA

If you plan to go to the beach in Sorrento, be prepared to shell out a few euros: Sorrento has only beach clubs, where you pay to use services such as beach umbrellas, chairs, mats, etc. The beaches get CROWDED and it is good to arrive early if you want to spend the day ‘al mare’. In fact, the sea is another thing that impresses in Sorrento: of a unique blue, bordering the turquoise, it frames the city, which faces it, and presents itself in an imposing way! You can’t tell if it’s more beautiful at noon, with the strong sun, or in the late afternoon, when the sunset orange ‘paints’ the city in gold! 2) Where to stay in Sorrento? HISTORIC CENTER

If you prefer something more central, choose the Historic Center of Sorrento. Another region full of life is where, in addition to great hotels and restaurants, there are the shops that sell ceramics, souvenirs and limoncello, in addition to other interesting points of the city. It goes without saying that, staying here, you are close to everything and traveling to various parts of the city can be done on foot!

Historic Center Attractions

The center of Sorrento unfolds along the axis bounded by Via Pietà, Via San Cesareo, Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani and Via Tasso. In addition to a delightful atmosphere, the historic center of Sorrento houses the beautiful Veniero Palace, the Correale Palace with its courtyard dating from 1700, the historic banks of Porta and Dominova, which were places dedicated to meeting of the Sorrento nobility and the Bottegadella Tarsia Lignea Museum, which preserves Sorrento’s ancient inlay tradition.

Among the religious works to be admired in the center of Sorrento, you cannot miss the Cathedral, with its wooden choir from Tarsia, the Basilica of Saint Antoninus and the Complex of Saint Francis, famous for its cloister; is a medieval building with arches that dates back to the 14th century and houses hundreds of years of wedding stories from people around the world! From the top of the city you can see Vesuvius in the background: the view is wonderful!

The heart of the center is the famous Piazzo Tasso: this is where everything happens! If you like hustle and bustle, people, good restaurants, incredible views and culture: your place is here! Don’t be afraid to get lost in the narrow streets of the city! They keep pleasant surprises!

3) Where to stay in Sorrento? OUT OF SORRENTO, IN THE HILLS

Will you travel by car? Then the best accommodation option is the hills near Sorrento, such as Casarlano, Priora and Colli, Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi. Here the best option is to stay in agritourism or inns. Even though it is a little distant from the center and main attractions, consider that buses go there, so it is possible to organize to get to and from the center. Being more isolated, it is the favorite destination for couples on their honeymoon or for those who want to get to know the process of making Limoncello or olive oil, for example.

In some places the prices may be higher, but the peace, silence and tranquility that is found here are priceless! If you want to stay a little further out of Sorrento, Vila Sant’Angelo, next to the city, is a great option. It is also super quiet and the view of the sea is cinematic! It is well connected to Sorrento by bus and you can reach Sorrento with a walk.
